FIRE Alishan Halebian I have always been fascinated with surrealism even before I knew what it meant. The unconscious triggers the imagination and that’s how The Other Angel was born; out of the inferno. Instead of having wings on his back, he is holding the fire wings, perhaps his way of telling us something. The Other Angel is my mythological creature, connection between conscious and unconscious, realism and surrealism. Imagination itself, that has no boundaries. Most of my work is in certain extent surreal. I like taking my subjects out of their characteristics and present them in a new reality. The Other Angel is a perfect example of symbolism. The metals and gems used symbolize fire, birth, and flight. 70
